hope is a curse

Condescending sarcasm
The pungent stink of bitter words
Deceit of a decadent place
Hatred and suspicion

Hope sometimes
Its own curse
Reconciliation of the past
And the present

Sometime in the future
Brilliance in madness
The possibilities

I want to trust again
I need to believe
And yet I can’t

Hope sometimes
Its own curse
Condescending
Mocking

The pungent stink
Words said
Eyes intense with hatred

Fated to this life
Listening to the better past
Empty memories

Condescending sarcasm
The pungent stink of better words
Deceit of a decadent place
Hatred and suspicion

Avoiding the edges

Staring
Lost
Broken
And without hope
Avoiding the edges
The heart wants
What the heart wants
Life another April fool’s joke
Meaning lost on you
Happiness was never guaranteed
Uncertainty the only thing that was
All the hopeless people
Surviving day to day

Staring
Lost
Broken
And without hope
The heart wants
What the heart wants
Humanity clings
Egotistical beliefs
Wanting what they can’t have
Believing in the unknown
Acting on a feeling
Better than four stars
Down town

Staring
Lost
Broken
And without hope
The heart wants
What the heart wants
One door closes
Another one opens
Just another empty cliché
Looks so fine though
Chasing the sun
Too hot to touch
Burned by regret

Redemption Drummer

A sad song
The drummer keeping time
Counting just to four

The past present and future
Merge as one
The truth a flickering shadow

A lost moment
A reality only to me
The stranger staring outward
A plea of redemption

A sad song
A drummer keeping score
Counting over and over

Everything is clear
Dancing in moon light
Silver and shadow

Then the moment is gone
Once again old
Misery your entertainment

The song is sad to one
Drummer maintaining the beat
Counting to four again

The darkness merges as one
The reality of the past
Reflecting on the future

Tainting happiness
Lingering on goodness
Redemption a hopeful wish

Once

Once I thought
There was something special
You were the one
That we were Unique
I was wrong

The future already fated
What was uniquely ours
A dream or real
the outcome already done

Looking back
The beginning was the end
The end another new beginning
The Story in between
Somehow a prologue and apologue
Uniquely ambiguous

Once I thought
There was something special
That you were special
That we were Unique
I was wrong
I was wrong

The future already fated
What was uniquely ours
A dream or real
the outcome already done

The future already fated
What was uniquely ours
A dream or real
the outcome already done
The outcome already fated
All those artificial smiles

happiness without pretense

Impatiently edgy
Expectations falling short
I didn't put you down
No but your eyes did
My eyes are the most deceiving
Your eyes are the only honesty
The only real thing revealing
Bucket list changing conversation
Not even a little subtly
I have been checking them off
One by one but I can’t tell you
I don't have a bucket list
Not even one
I keep this silent
But all the reasons
Run through my mind
A list of things to do
Before I die
Seems so morbidly self defeating
Doomed for failure
Cause once checked off
Well your dead
creating a list is striving
fulfilling an emptiness
I see that as looking for happiness
striving for perfection
journey to happiness is a perfection worth striving for
I have done so many things
Been in love and out
Tasted fine wine
Pushed the edge of adrenaline
Been dead and back again
Jumped out of airplanes
Felt the cold silence of the wind
Climbed mountains in the rain
Made mistakes and corrected them
Disappointed with my trust
Lived with it
Ran through froze fields
Pushing pass the edge of doubt
Watched the tides at sunrise
Reflecting broken dreams
Once you go there
You can never come back
If I ever created a bucket list
It would have one item
Find happiness without pretense
An invalid impossibility
A private internal conversation
Never stated
Her voice breaks the silence
I have been seeing someone
He is a little short
He has a bucket list too
Why are you telling me this?
We are just friends nothing more
Happiness is perfection worth striving for
Get jiggy with it

Extremism

Minds so diseased
Reality is blurred
Legally not liable
Biased journey
Sequestered in limbo
Secrecy and evasiveness
Words of a song echoes
Sirens voices compelling
The ship Freedom drifting
Mourning all those sacrificed
Religion the excuse
To do the criminally insane
Morals placed aside
All those unhappy people
Business of extremism
History will see more
