Fibbing about yesterdays

Fibbing about yesterdays

And feeling sad about tomorrows
The smell of honest a little sugary
As sincerity tans the skin
Saying it 32 when really meaning it 23
Saying it yesterday meaning it next Tuesday
Everything a test to see if they should know
Even rye with breakfast
Can’t take the oldness out of the new
Writing lyrics to sing with everything we do
A little country clique
Working on running away from yesterdays
A village girl starving on city chique

Lying about yesterdays
And crying about tomorrows
The smell of honesty bitter
As sincerity tans the skin
Without tan lines
A little country claque
Village chic turning city chique
Drinking rye at breakfast
Working to forget all those yesterdays
Saying it is 23 when really meaning it 32
Saying it is tomorrow meaning it was yesterday
Everything a test meaning I don’t care about you
Everything we all do lyrics to a country song

Lying about yesterdays
And feeling sad about tomorrows
Everything in between washed in gin and sorrow
Village chic turning city chique

Lying about yesterdays
And crying about tomorrows
Everything in between washed in gin and sorrow
Village chic turning city chique
As sincerity tans the skin
Without tan lines

Lying about yesterdays
And feeling sad about tomorrows
Everything in between washed in gin and sorrow
Village chic turning city chique

After I read the first comment, and after reading your poem again, I have to agree with the first writer. Though it seems you purposely wrote a country lyric, it does make the theme more comical than dramatic.
