Eloquent Prerogative

Laughter that comes so easily
Now it's that cold stare
Haunting penetrating eyes
Time works its magic
Changing even the mundane
Subtly everyday
The heavens keep score
The sun peaks out
Turning all the shades of grey to pink
Reading the silence between the lines
That's  who we were
Not who we are
Living for tomorrow
Leaving behind all the yesterday's
White sand and tequila sunshine
Laughter shielding the misery
A sound that once came so easily
Gone with all the subtle eloquence
The sun rises high
The colors of dawn slowly fade away
As does the memory of once was
